Episode 5: The Ghost of Elihu in Job: Discussing Interpolations
Bet you didn’t know that the book of Job contains a character who is just as ghost-like as Bruce Willis in the Sixth Sense. Join Brad and Evan as they explore the Elihu Speeches and all of the evidence that points to this material as being inserted to the book by a later hand. As usual, Brad raises tough theological questions from academic scholarship, asking us as a church to face those questions head on with eyes wide open.
Episode Highlights:
Interpolations exist in the NT backed by unmistakeable manuscript evidence: One of the most notorious interpolations is the story of the woman caught in adultery found in the Gospel of John (7:53-8:11). If you have any modern English translation, yo...

Episode 3 : What’s agape got to do with it? - Theology Academy podcast
Просмотров 270Месяц назад
What’s agape got to do with it? In this episode, Brad addresses the use of agape in the Christian Church and the question of its meaning. He argues that there is no historical basis in Greek usage for identifying agape with a special kind of love, whether that be a selfless love, or God’s love or a Christian type of love. The journey through agape begins by tracing the use of the English word “...

As a little aside, Justin Martyr petitioned to Antoninus Pius, not Hadrian. IF the letter was written in the 140s as the video states, Hadrian was dead and Antoninus was ruler.

I was wondering why Christ came to Earth during this era, so I started reading about the early Church Fathers. Started reading Augustine of Hippo, then became intrigued so went back to earlier Fathers: Clement of Rome, Ignatius of Antioch, and Polycarp of Smyrna, Justin Martyr all wonderful reads, but when I got to Irenaeus of Lyons it became such a tedious read, I thought of skipping it, well your video added the proper contents i was missing...Thanks and God Bless

Its is totally presumptous to call any man, post 12 apostles such! Jesus chose Just 12! In the revelation of the 'new Jerusalem' John saw the "Twelve foudations & in them the names of the TWELVE apostles of the lamb" ( rev 21:14) True Clement in 94AD claimed that there was some sort of 'succession' but these were the mere words of a man! Only Jesus Christ actually appointed 'apostles'. True , 'bishops' were appointed, but they are NOT the same as 'apostles'! ( Paul took Timothy & Barnabas with him, they were just called 'fellow workers'! In fact both Jesus & his apostles wanrned against men "arising" and "Liking the first place among them" ( See Acts 20:28-30 3 John 9 )

The early church fathers as they are called are False ministers masquerading as apostles of light and the only true fathers of the church of Christ are the Apostles themselves and No others!

  • @kiwihans100

Obviously staunch 'orthodoxians' will praise and admire the so called 'church fathers', why? because they were influential in the formulation of the doctrines that became the basis of the accpeted 'creeds' of christendom! The Jews had the 'Torah', 'Nevi'im' & 'Kethuvim'. ( the 39 books of the Hebrew bible). By Jesus time the religious leaders had, 'defined more deeply' the inner meaning of the OT! Jesus scolded them "You have made the WORD OF GOD invalid due to your traditions!". The 'church fathers' did exactly the SAME with the NT by combining it with Greek philosophy, a fact admitted by most honest historians! stick to the BIBLE!

Good video. I would just disagree with your last statement that seems to erroneously put all the blame for the ongoing hostility between Jews, Christians & Muslims on the Crusades themselves. The fact is that Islam spread USING VIOLENCE & PERSECUTION while Christianity spread DESPITE being the target of VIOLENCE & PERSECUTION. The Crusades clearly were morally wrong in a number of aspects & not the answer to the hostility & violence that Muslims were propagating but they were also an expected reaction to the violent hostility that Islam used to spread, as violence & hostility is undeniably a CORE part of Islam itself.

He is a mode of God. Jesus was not preexisting or created by the father. If all 3 are God, you have 3 Gods. Find that in Hebrew theology. "When you have seen me you have seen the father". Jesus did not say God. The apostles baptized in the name of Jesus because they under stood this. You either have a team, like Egypt, India and Mormonism or One God. You choose
